William H. Sorensen started the company in 1956 after moving his family from upstate New York to Melbourne in search of a new business opportunity in an area that was rapidly expanding thanks to the emergence of America’s space program. In 1977, Scott Sorensen, the fifth of the family’s six children, was drawn home after attending the University of Florida to assist with the demands of the business.

When the Saturn Program ended, and the Space Coast experienced an economic downturn, Scott remembers the bumps in the road. “We had a small warehouse, one truck and a three-man crew. I literally drove around town looking for homes with ‘for sale’ signs in their yard. I would knock on the door and solicit their business.” His perseverance eventually paid off, and through their dedication to service, Sorensen Moving & Storage began to recover.

After years of growth and success, and backed by a dedicated team, including the young workforce that provides invaluable fresh ideas and enthusiasm, Sorensen has proven that dedication and commitment pay off.
