Not Profit. “This mantra drives how we do business,” said Associate Superintendent, Career & Technical Education, Dr. Michael Armbruster. “In fact, with the lowest tuition rates in Central Florida, and accepting all types of financial aid, not student loans, many students are able to graduate Orange Technical College programs debt-free.”
That makes a big difference. According to a recent report in The Wall Street Journal by student financial aid expert Mark Kantrowitz, 2016 graduates are predicted to be $37,172 deep in student debt when they graduate.
“Most career certificate training programs at Orange Technical College take less than a year-and-a-half to complete, and on average, cost $5,000 or less, which includes all fees, books, and tuition,” said Armbruster.
Each program at Orange Technical College has a workforce advisory council in place to ensure industry standards are met in the classroom and curriculum is aligned with industry specific skills. According to Armbruster, this positions graduates for immediate employment upon completion of their program.
“Employers of today, now more than ever, are seeking candidates with specific skill sets to fill meaningful positions in their organizations—many of which do not require a degree,” said Armbruster. “That’s why employers are turning to Orange Technical College to build Central Florida’s skilled workforce of tomorrow.”

Over the next decade, a growing skills gap could leave vacant some two million of the nearly 3.5 million manufacturing jobs that employers across the country need to fill, according to The Skills Gap in U.S. Manufacturing—a publication released in 2015 by financial services firm Deloitte and the nonprofit Manufacturing Institute. An estimated 2.7 million vacancies, the report states, will result from employees retiring as the workforce ages.
Orange Technical College is home to a diverse array of career certificate training programs, including manufacturing, leading directly to an industry certification in the student’s chosen field.
“We have state-of-the-art facilities and over 60 programs for students to choose from,” said Armbruster. “If you’re ready to change your life through education, we have the people here to help you do just that.”
Those programs include 3-D animation, licensed practical nursing, automotive service, building construction, culinary arts, web development, machining, and many more.
According to Armbruster, Orange Technical College is also the largest provider of adult general education programs in Central Florida, helping thousands of English Language Learners in ESOL each year and providing more GED training and testing than any other organization in Orlando.
