Since its inception 20-plus years ago, the Jim Moran Institute’s vision remains dedicated to providing opportunities that help others become successful entrepreneurs. Its focus continues to assist small businesses and nonprofit organizations consisting of three or more employees and conducting business for three or more years for little to no cost. Maintaining one of the most extensive small business outreach programs in the nation, the Jim Moran Institute offers executive education programs, an expert speaker series and an annual small business leadership conference.
Small Business Leadership Conference
In the era of digital media, the connection between a business and its customers is more valuable than ever. At the 2018 Jim Moran Institute Small Business Leadership Conference (Aug. 1-3), companies will have ample opportunities to discover innovative practices, techniques and solutions that further enhance all aspects of a business relationship with customers.
Attendees will hear from qualified speakers, experts and executives covering topics essential to building customer relationships and attend smaller, more focused breakout workshop sessions to discuss and review matters of interest. Additionally, the conference will recognize five finalists from the Pitch the Editor Competition. These business owners will present a three-minute pitch involving a story about their customers to the audience and panel of judges.
“We are thrilled to be hosting our annual Small Business Leadership Conference in Orlando this year,” said Melissa Roberts, managing director of operations. “Our mission for the 2018 conference is to not only continue connecting entrepreneurs and small business owners from around the state of Florida, but also to provide actionable tools and resources for them to improve their relationships with their customers.”
Small Business Executive Program
Whether seeking broader global perspectives, innovative approaches to seize opportunities or valuable insights into managing day-to-day operations, the Small Business Executive Program mentors a company to realize and reach its full potential. Ideal for entrepreneurs, CEOs and presidents seeking to emerge as stronger leaders, the program is presented over four months with engaging and content-specific sessions occurring once every other week for a total of 40 hours.
Intended for demanding schedules, the program enables businesses of different industries to evaluate specific situations, improve strategies, produce effective plans and connect with fellow peers for advice, guidance and support. Through the Business Model Canvas, executives explore a broad range of topics while focusing on corporate growth, leadership expertise, marketing alignment and financial success.
“We assist local business and nonprofit executives to think differently and be more efficient in their decision making in this no-cost program,” said Mike Campbell, director of North Florida operations. “We work with CEOs and executives throughout the state, helping each further grow in their business leadership expertise and prepare them for new challenges that lie ahead.”
Nonprofit Executive Program
The Nonprofit Executive Program is an intensive, world-class learning experience accommodating the busy schedule of nonprofit executives and creating an influential network of like-minded peers. Through the Leon Operations Model, executives challenge themselves, seek new ideas and emerge as stronger leaders. The program assesses an organization’s position, develops long-term strategies and formulates a practical action plan. Executives discover how to capitalize on opportunities, shift burdens into strategic advantages and leverage best practices.
“The program helps nonprofit organization executives maximize donor dollars and services by fine-tuning operations and ways of thinking,” said Campbell.
Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans is a three-phase program providing veterans with disabilities the tools to develop, improve and propel their business to the next phase. Topics include management, financing, marketing and strategic planning. Veterans must have served active duty with an honorable discharge or general discharge under honorable conditions.
A similar initiative, Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans’ Families, educates, empowers and enables military spouses to run a small business at home, generating income while leveraging the flexibility to care for a loved one.
“Through these two programs, we provide veterans and their families with all of the tools and support needed to meet the small business challenges ahead,” said Jennifer Kovach. “We are proud to host this flagship veteran outreach program.”
