Orlando, FL — Douglas E. Starcher has been named managing partner of the Orlando office of Nelson Mullins Broad and Cassel. He assumes the day-to-day leadership of an office of more than 110 attorneys and support staff. Starcher is a corporate attorney who focuses on mergers and acquisitions and also leads the firm’s Florida Corporate and Finance Team.
“Doug worked closely with me for several years in the operations of the office. This is a natural transition, and I am fully confident in his ability to lead the office into the future,” said C. David Brown, II.
Brown, who served as managing partner for 30 years, will continue his law practice with the firm in Orlando and will remain on the firm’s Executive Committee, the overall governing body elected by the partnership to oversee the firm’s strategy and operations. He also will continue leading the ongoing integration of Broad and Cassel and Nelson Mullins, which combined last year to form a super-regional law firm with more than 785 attorneys and professionals in 25 offices in 11 states and the District of Columbia.
“It’s an honor to follow in the footsteps of David Brown and serve the attorneys and staff in the Orlando office at this exciting time of growth for the firm,” said Starcher. “Our clients and lawyers have already benefitted from the expanded areas of expertise and larger geographic footprint our combination with Nelson Mullins offers. I hope to combine these advantages with what I have learned from the example of David’s wise leadership to create the best possible platform for solution-oriented service for clients and opportunities for growth, continued excellence, and personal fulfillment for our attorneys and staff.”
Starcher has been recognized by The M&A Advisor in New York as the Seller’s Attorney on the 2015 Technology Deal of the Year over $250 million and again in 2018 on the Financials Deal of the Year. He also has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® for Public Finance and Securities/Capital Markets Law for the last 10 years.
The news comes on the heels of another Florida announcement for the firm. Partners Jo Thacker and David Itskovich were named to lead the firm’s Florida Real Estate Practice, which was reorganized into two teams, with Thacker, based in Orlando, and Itskovich, based in Boca Raton, each leading a team of lawyers focused on commercial real estate transactions and real estate development.
