A Commitment to Food, People and the Planet
From sourcing organic food to growing their own, the people of Dandelion Communitea Cafe have established themselves as an anchor of sustainability in the Orlando food scene since 2006.
Inside, the staff serves up a vegetarian menu, uses earth-friendly cleaning products and to-go packaging, and the space is furnished with all secondhand or reclaimed furniture. On the walls, you’ll find American Clay instead of paint – a natural earth plaster that is environmentally-friendly. Outside, they invest in composting and are hoping to develop a more robust composting network within the community.
The cafe’s world famous Giddy Up is a staple menu item, and ropes in unsuspecting citizens into the world of organic whole foods. Filled with a myriad of fine organic ingredients (most importantly, the broken chips you find at the bottom of a bag) and served as a wrap or salad, it is an example of how reducing waste can be positive for everyone involved.
Because of their commitment to the environment, the cafe has received the Green Business Certification from Green America, which recognizes companies that are committed to using business as a platform for social change.
The cafe practices a Zen blend of conscious capitalism, sacred commerce and common sense while experimenting with the concept of financial permaculture. They believe in a “Triple P” bottom line – i.e. people, profit and planet – and that you can do good while earning and redistributing wealth for the betterment of community.
Dandelion Communitea Cafe provides the community with the highest quality, healthiest and tastiest food that can be found and prides themselves on their speed, consistency and dependability. Their philosophy: Sustainably provide the community with consistent, dependable, high quality and honest food with truly friendly service and abundance will follow.
