What’s Stopping You from Achieving Your Goals?

There are two powerful forces that will always try to get in the way of your goals. But, before I unveil these “goal stoppers,” we need to understand this about the goals you have set.

Learn to Overcome FEAR and Dis-Belief

There are two powerful forces that will always try to get in the way of your goals. But, before I unveil these “goal stoppers,” we need to understand this about the goals you have set. You are either interested or committed to your goal. If you are interested, you will do what is convenient; if you are committed, you will do whatever it takes! You must then ask this question to yourself: “Am I willing and am I able?” Most times you are physically and mentally able to reach this goal. However, the question now becomes, “Am I willing and committed to do whatever it takes?” You must know these answers before you are ready to embark on a new path.

The top two goal stoppers are FEAR and DIS-BELIEF. Let’s take a deeper look into these negative mindsets and disable them permanently in your life.

Where Did That Come From?

My favorite definition of fear is: “False Evidences Appearing Real.” But where does fear come from? Major studies have determined that we are born with only two involuntary protection reactions that are labeled as fears – the fear of falling and the fear of loud noise. Both events involve our physical senses and our body reacting involuntarily to protect us from harm.

So, where do we get the rest of our fears? We learn most of them from our environment and past experiences. Basically, we get the majority of our other fears from other people. Remember, False Evidences Appearing Real. You’ll realize most of your fears are not real when you disassemble them and analyze the source.

FEAR has many different ways to manifest in your journey toward your goal: procrastination, worry, anxiety, negative mindset, and bondage. These symptoms consistently produce one thing – lack of action! When you set a new goal, make strategies and action plans to start to move toward it; FEAR will almost always come up to challenge you. You can be ready to break through it with this simple formula:

You must have the understanding that the FEAR is not really present. This understanding allows you to invoke faith that everything is going to be ok and work out best for you (well-being). Express this wellbeing by facing FEAR and physically take the next step toward your goal. This will be very uncomfortable but you must take the action to break through. When you do this, FEAR will leave and you will accelerate toward your goal. You will feel a freedom and liberation that will produce new energy to move rapidly.

I Can’t Belief It!

The second goal stopper is Dis-Belief. Dis-Belief and FEAR love to work together. The more they can get into your head, the more stagnant you will become. Dis-Belief, simply put, is not believing you can do what you have set out to do.

Earl Nightingale says it best in uncovering one of the biggest lies that hold us back: “Now right here we come to a rather strange fact. We tend to minimize the things we can do, the goals we can accomplish, and for some equally strange reason we think other people can accomplish things that we cannot. I want you to understand that that is not true. You have deep reservoirs of talent and ability within you that you can bring to the surface and achieve all that you desire.”

Now that you understand the simple solution to bust through fear, here are four ways to dislodge the Dis-Beliefs about yourself and your ability.

Step 1: Read Nightingale’s quote every morning and personalize it. Just accept it as TRUTH and don’t try to mess with it.

Step 2: Write out on a piece of paper your top 5 passions, your one or two top goals, and a long list of “I AM” statements. Example: “I AM Faithful, Confident, Loyal, Intelligent, A Winner, Courageous.” Write out what you are now and what you want to become.

Step 3: Make three copies of this paper. Put one on your bathroom mirror, dashboard of your car, and keep one in your pocket.

Step 4: Record yourself repeating this written statement over some meditative background music. Listen to the recording every morning and night as you go to sleep.

If you think these steps sound silly, don’t do them and continue to get the same results you’ve been getting.  If you want to be in the 3 percent club, just do it, and in 30 days your beliefs and behaviors will change and your results will be outstanding!
