Energy and Geo-Environmental Executives Join Crummers Board of Overseers

WINTER PARK, FL (October 6, 2017) – Vinod Philip, CEO of Siemens Power and Gas Services Business Unit, and Mark Israel, President of Universal Engineering Sciences, Inc., are the latest prominent Central Florida executives to join the Board of Overseers at the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College.

Comprised of more than two dozen esteemed leaders from a wide range of industries, the Board reflects the region’s diverse economy and represents the varied sectors that Crummer students and alumni thrive in today. Current board members represent organizations such as Merrill Lynch, Disney, Orlando Health, SunTrust, Fairwinds Credit Union, Darden Restaurants, the Orlando Utilities Commission, and many others.

“We are honored to welcome these two distinguished individuals to our Board of Overseers,” said Dr. Deborah Crown, Dean of Rollins Crummer Graduate School of Business. “Environmental sciences and energy are two critical sectors of the regional, national and global economies, and we are excited to have these two leaders join us to help to shape our future leaders and the direction of our school.”

The purpose of the Board of Overseers is to advance the strategic vision of the Crummer Graduate School of Business. As a recognized leader in graduate business education, Crummer is known for producing innovative, responsible global business leaders who impact their organizations and their communities.

Vinod Philip joins the board with almost 20 years’ experience in the energy sector while being with Siemens. In his time with Siemens, he has become known as a strategic, people-oriented and transformative business leader with a strong technology and product focus. He served in a variety of managerial and executive roles at Siemens, most recently serving as the Chief Technology Officer in the Power & Gas Division before being promoted to CEO of the company’s Power and Gas Service Business Unit earlier this year. He earned a master’s degree in materials science and engineering from the University of Central Florida as well as an MBA degree from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College.

Mark Israel has more than 28 years’ experience in the geotechnical field. Founded by his father Seymour Israel, Universal Engineering Sciences is the largest family-owned firm of its kind in the United States, having grown into $60 million a year operation. The company’s 18 offices across Florida and Georgia provide geotechnical engineering, environmental services, construction materials testing, and building code compliance solutions to county and municipal governments, building groups, and developers. Mark holds an MBA degree from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College.

Crummer’s Board oversaw many significant milestones during the past year. The School’s MBA program was recently ranked the #1 MBA in Florida and among the Top 50 in the nation by Forbes Magazine, climbing eight spots—more than any other school in the Top 50. In addition, Crummer became the first AACSB-accredited school in Florida to graduate students with an Executive Doctorate in Business Administration (EDBA) degree. Celebrating its 60th Anniversary in 2017, Crummer also welcomed the largest-ever spring class of Central Florida working professionals to its Professional MBA program.
