CCU Partners with Fashion Entrepreneur/Aspiring Astronaut for 321 Financial Liftoff! Education Series; Next Event April 1 at Titusville High School with 500 Students with Junior Achievement
ROCKLEDGE, Fla. (March 31, 2022) – Taking on the sobering youth financial literacy crisis, CCU Florida, a local credit union founded by teachers, is partnering with key Florida TikTokers and other influencers to teach dollars and sense to high school students in a series of events planned across the state throughout the year. CCU Florida’s “321 Financial Liftoff” is designed to be an accessible, convenient support system from high school onward and seeks to instill the importance of financial literacy at an early age. Taking place during Financial Literacy Month, CCU FL will host its second program Friday, April 1 at Titusville High School, in partnership with Junior Achievement’s Space Coast Chapter.
As part of this program, social media personality, Alyssa Carson, an astrobiology student with aspirations of becoming the first woman on Mars, well-known TikToker and swimwear entrepreneur Emily Zeck, NFL Player JT Hassell most recently of the NY Jets, and other local young and influential business owners share personal anecdotes about best financial practices and their partnership with CCU Florida.
“Becoming financially literate at a young age is critical and we want to ensure that the next generation of the Space Coast is able to achieve those major milestones such as getting their first debit card, buying a car or their first home,” said Laurie Cappelli, president of CCU Florida. “Recent studies have shown that there is a gap in financial education and we are committed to changing that by providing students with tips, resources and easy to understand ways to kickstart their financial journey.”
President of Junior Achievement of the Space Coast Anne Conroy-Baiter said, “Junior Achievement of the Space Coast has a thirty year history of teaching Brevard students a foundation of financial literacy skills; partnering with a CCU Florida on National Financial Literacy Day enables us to reinforce the importance of these important life lessons. We’re confident Titusville High students will come away with not only a basic understanding of financial literacy, but also, an enhanced appreciation for its importance on their futures.”
