Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando Offers Complimentary Membership for Businesses Affected by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and Starting Businesses in Central Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. (November 18th, 2017) – The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando (HCCMO) announced it is offering complimentary memberships for businesses coming from Puerto Rico due to Hurricane Maria and opening a business in Central Florida.

It is estimated that 139,000 Puerto Ricans have arrived in Florida since hurricane Maria devastated the island, many of whom may be business owners looking to start a new life in the metro area and surrounding communities. This re-settlement includes rebuilding their businesses from scratch. Since the recent disasters, the Chamber has received an influx of calls and visits of individuals looking for guidance and information.

“We know starting over and relocating from home during any circumstance is not easy, let alone due to a natural disaster. The HCCMO hopes that by offering complimentary access to our award-winning membership benefits, business owners from Puerto Rico can thrive here in Central Florida,” said HCCMO Board Chair Karla Muñiz.

The announcement came during Savor the Night, HCCMO’s annual signature event that blends high caliber networking and culinary experience, which took place today at the Orlando City Commons Plaza and City Hall Rotunda.

Entrepreneurs from Puerto Rico who are relocating their businesses or re-starting their businesses in Central Florida and want to take advantage of this opportunity should call (407) 428-5870 or visit the HCCMO website at www.HCCMO.org.

“The Central Florida area is one of the most economically sound regions in the nation, and our Hispanic community contributes a great deal in terms of economic impact and business development. I want to recognize the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for offering our brothers and sisters the complimentary membership, with this opportunity they can expand their businesses to our region at zero initial cost,” said Commissioner Tony Ortiz.
