HostDime.com, Inc. Building New Seven Story Data Center and Corporate Office

HostDime.com, Inc., a global leader in data center infrastructure, will break ground on a new data center facility on five acres of prime Interstate 4 frontage near Orlando.

HostDime.com, Inc., a global leader in data center infrastructure, will break ground on a new data center facility on five acres of prime Interstate 4 frontage near Orlando, Florida on the Eatonville/Maitland Wymore Road Corridor in Q1 of 2016. The building will rise 110 feet and be visible from I-4 and surrounding areas. Land purchase contract with the Orange County Public School System will close before the end of 2015.

Orlando-based Baker Barrios Architects, Inc., has designed the state-of-the-art facility with an innovative flair unlike anything the technology community and the I-4 corridor has seen before. The seven-story building, in an uber-contemporary style, includes space for all of HostDime’s 130 U.S.-based employees and three floors of world-class data center space. In addition, the space will feature private client suites, private client equipment cages, on-demand client offices, and a mix of amenities for technology clients which include ultra fast gigabit internet access, a sports court, and an indoor/outdoor event space on the top floor that will be shared with the tech community to host events.  The facility will also feature a 36-foot tall warehouse storage area that clients can use at no charge for temporary storage of their equipment.

Guests will be greeted by a three story high atrium at the front of the building with a grand roundabout entrance. This atrium will also house an impressive mosaic video display spanning 36 feet tall and 10 feet wide which is going to be one of the largest mosaic video walls in the world.

“The event space was incorporated with the local Orlando community in mind. Orlando has such a thriving tech scene; we want to be a gathering place for events to facilitate growth in our sector and support the community of people that make it possible. What better place to have such a space then where the cloud lives, in a data center?” – Vikki Fraser, Director of Marketing

HostDime’s vision with the new facility is to expand its existing products and offerings to service local businesses and house government data in the facility. The facility is being engineered to meet and exceed requirements for some of the most widely known certifications such as HIPPA, PCI, SOC 2, and FISMA. The network is being designed to support over 100 gigabits of network connectivity and to be the central hub where all network carriers in Central Florida can meet and connect.

The new category 5 hurricane rated facility will feature space for over 35,000 servers, a designated meet me network room in each data center floor, full Tier 4 level redundancy and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Attack Protection. A unique three tier electrical power design will allow the facility to sustain two consecutive system failures and still be operational, making the standard N+1 redundancy a thing of the past. At its peak, the facility will also have over 10 megawatt of electric power capacity from Duke Energy. Rooftops will feature solar panels in keeping with HostDime’s green initiatives; up to 25{bfd614f294d07c51b84c8dad33a56885001f0ed7300088ac66752d3246377d5a} of the building will be powered by the sun.

In addition, HostDime will utilize the latest in security and protection for the facility itself, including facial recognition access control, over one hundred 360 degree security cameras throughout the building and site, man-trap doors, and car-trap access. The full perimeter of the site will be gated with 24/7 security personnel.

Clients will be able to purchase an array of existing HostDime services such as scalable cloud storage, colocation services, fully managed or unmanaged bare-metal dedicated servers, virtual private servers, and private and public cloud environments all hosted locally here in Orlando.

“Back in 2003 when HostDime was a ‘startup’, many people would ask us, ‘Why are you building a data center in Orlando?,’ and I would reply ‘Why not?’ Fast forward to today and Orlando is seen as a major technology epicenter of the Southern United States. The caliber of the facility we are building is seen only in major metro areas such as New York or Los Angeles. We have been a huge advocate of the Orlando tech scene and we want this facility to be the home for every business and Florida government contractor who needs data center or cloud infrastructure in the Orlando Metro area or the greater Central Florida region. Clients will appreciate having local access to such a world-class technology facility with a high level of security that you don’t see elsewhere. There is no reason any business or person should need to get services outside the region for their needs. The human element of our services will allow us to engage locally at a level Orlando has never seen. We are very excited that this facility will supplement our existing facility which currently powers over 5 million applications in the cloud. We want everyone in the community to be proud of this new facility, drive down I-4, and say ‘I want to be part of this’ whether as a client or potential employee” – Manny Vivar, CEO and VP of Global Operations.

The facility will also have a section dedicated to STEM education on one of the data center floors. HostDime’s current workforce of 130 U.S. employees is composed of almost 90{bfd614f294d07c51b84c8dad33a56885001f0ed7300088ac66752d3246377d5a} current UCF students and graduates, 9{bfd614f294d07c51b84c8dad33a56885001f0ed7300088ac66752d3246377d5a} from Valencia and Seminole College and 1{bfd614f294d07c51b84c8dad33a56885001f0ed7300088ac66752d3246377d5a} from other schools. HostDime is dedicated to providing employment to the local community and wants to work with local schools to tap into regional talent as early as 6th grade.

“We are very conscious about the community. When we designed this facility, we kept the local education system and community in mind. We are creating a ‘how-it-works’ space in the facility so young students can be exposed to the behind-the-scenes of how a data center works and how it powers the cloud. We strongly believe in creating this challenge, and igniting the curiosity of young students in the wide area of technology that is vital to the STEM agenda. We certainly want to do our part in exposing our facility to these students and the educational community” – Manny Vivar

The new HostDime facility will eventually combine the current corporate headquarters near UCF in Research Park with the current data center HostDime operates in Central Florida. HostDime’s focus for the new facility is to keep up with current corporate growth and expand its client amenities. Once the facility is finished in Late 2016, all new HostDime clients will be placed in the new facility. The 88,000 square foot structure will be fully owned, operated, and occupied by HostDime. The iconic contemporary building will be a beacon for growth in the Central Florida business community for many years to come.
