Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business announced today that John Race has been named the new Chair of the Board of Overseers. He follows fellow Crummer graduate Tom McEvoy, who recently transitioned to the role of interim dean in July. Prior to this appointment, Race held a seat on the Board for 17 years and was recently inducted to the Crummer Alumni Hall of Fame.
Race, a Rollins and Crummer graduate, is a founding partner and co-chief executive officer of DePrince, Race & Zollo, Inc., an investment firm with $8.5 billion in assets with nearly 50 employees, including 12 Rollins graduates—seven of whom hold a Crummer degree. Along with his seat on the firm’s Board of Directors, John manages the daily operations of the firm and serves as the portfolio manager of the firm’s Alternative Strategies discipline. He was previously with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and also served as director, partner and president of SunBank Capital Management. John lives in Winter Park and his wife Sandra, a Rollins alumna whom he met during his undergraduate studies; they are proud grandparents to two grandsons.
“I credit a great deal of DRZ’s success to what I learned through my studies at Rollins, and particularly my Crummer MBA,” Race says. “My education continues to give so much to me—not just on a professional level but through my community involvement as well. That further fuels my passion to give back to the school I have such deep roots with. I am humbled to take on this role and to work with the Crummer family to guide the school to an even brighter future.\
