The Rollins Venture Plan Competition held during the spring semester, provides Rollins students, alumni, faculty and staff an opportunity to take an idea for a new product or business and develop a plan to introduce it to the marketplace. Participants compete for prize money before a panel of distinguished judges, all of whom are successful investors and entrepreneurs. Competition judges are experienced, entrepreneurial-minded practitioners in the business community. Since its inception in 2005, 50% of Challenge winners have successfully launched new ventures. The 2014 Rollins Venture Plan Competition awarded $50,000 in total prizes with $25,000 in cash going to the winner.
The Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business will host its Venture Plan Competition—Central Florida’s very own “Shark Tank”—with up to $50,000 in start-up funding at stake. The public is invited to attend; admission is free.
The keynote speaker will be Richard Daley, co-founder of Pentaho, who will be sharing lessons learned from Pentaho’s journey to date and details from the sale of the company last month to Hitachi for more than $500,000,000.
