Summit Broadband selected for Polk County residential fiber project

ORLANDO, Fla. (August 19, 2021) – Summit Broadband (Summit), a leading fiber-optics telecommunications provider in Central and Southwest Florida, today announces Cassidy Subscription Services LLC (CSS) has awarded the company a contract to supply fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) high-speed internet to multiple communities of single-family homes (SFH) in Polk County, Fla. Summit provides its fiber-based solutions – including internet, phone, video and managed services – to residential, business, hospitality and wholesale customers, as well as educational institutions, including grades K-12.

Under the multi-year, bulk-data arrangement, Summit will provide FTTH to more than 20,000 newly constructed homes in multiple developments in Polk County. The nearly 50 miles of fiber network will bring 10 Gbps solutions to each residence in those communities.

“We chose Summit for this enormous undertaking because of their successful track record of providing the fastest, most dependable internet in the state,” says CSS Chief Executive Officer Steve Cassidy. “Our home builder partners can rest assured we have procured the best service provider to meet their residents’ needs now and in the future.”

“Building this new portion of our network continues our plan to provide the fastest, most reliable internet to residents and communities throughout Florida,” says Summit Chief Executive Officer Kevin Coyne. “This is one of the largest FTTH builds in the nation and further demonstrates our ability to be considered the premier fiber-optic service provider in the state. We understand how vitally important reliable and secure broadband connectivity is in people’s lives today, and we are committed to providing it to as many Floridians as possible.”

Network construction has begun, and the first homes are slated for activation in the first quarter of 2022.
