ORLANDO, Fla. (May 29, 2018) –
The University Club of Orlando closed on its facility in the heart of Downtown Orlando on May 25, 2018. Friday’s closing marks The University Club’s return to Downtown Orlando.
The new Clubhouse will be situated at the southwest corner of the intersection of Central Boulevard and Rosalind Avenue – approximately in the same location that it has occupied since 1960, but this Clubhouse is built entirely from the ground up. With four floors and over 25,000 square feet, the new Clubhouse has more space than the previous facility, including an outside terrace with one-of-a-kind views overlooking Downtown. Beautiful design and luxurious touches also contribute to the distinct space.
“Our members desire the best of what our community has to offer today — and are dedicated to fueling the Orlando of the future by continuing our legacy today,” said Club President Jacob V. Stuart, Jr. “Now, with our new Clubhouse, we begin on the next chapter of our over 92-year history as a space that is not only one of the most stunning spaces in all of Downtown Orlando, but all of the South East.”
Built with its members in mind, The University Club clubhouse includes a variety of dining options: a casual lounge, the more formal Main Dining Room, and the beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking Downtown. Members can also reserve rooms for private dining, civic events and business meetings.
The facility also houses a two-story, state-of-the-art athletic facility which can accommodate any type of workout Members desire — cardio, weight training, racquetball, basketball, yoga and more.
Upon closing, The University Club regained ownership of the property from an affiliate of Mills Creek Residential, which had acquired it to develop Modera Central, a 22-story high-rise that includes 350 luxury apartment homes and ground floor retail in addition to the new University Club. Interior construction begins on June 11, 2018. The clubhouse is scheduled to officially open December 2018. The University Club selected development and construction group Mill Creek Residential, architects Powell Design Group, Inc., and general contractors Welbro through a competitive bidding process.
