ORLANDO, May 2 — During today’s Spring 2020 Virtual Commencement, Alexander N. Cartwright presided over his first graduation ceremony as UCF’s sixth president. NFL stars and former UCF Football players Shaquill and Shaquem Griffin gave the commencement address.

Approximately 8,500 degrees were conferred today, during 12 separate and successive ceremonies. All of the graduate’s names were read aloud. Overall, UCF has awarded more than 354,000 total degrees since classes began in 1968.

Nearly half of this spring’s degrees were awarded to students from underrepresented communities. Hispanic students comprised more than one quarter of all degree recipients. Annually, the University graduates one of the highest numbers of minorities in the nation.
