Name: William A. Finfrock, P.E.
When William (Bill) started at FINFROCK, then a small to mid-size precast concrete manufacturer in the early 1990’s, he had no idea what his family’s business would look like 23 years later. Now FINFROCK employs over 300 people, and is a multi-faceted company that is a fully integrated Design-Builder, with more than 60 architectural, engineering, and contracting professionals on staff. FINFROCK is in the software development business, the real-estate development business, and now owns and operates a hotel in Naples, Florida. FINFROCK also has invented and patented a new product called the DualDeck, a new type of structural member designed for long clear spans for commercial buildings.
When Bill graduated from Vanderbilt in 1992 with a degree in structural engineering, joining the family business was a natural fit. A later degree from The Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College, with a finance concentration, was very beneficial to his career. Bill gravitated toward the customer relationship side of the business at FINFROCK, and by the late 1990’s was the executive vice president in charge of project development. As a Design-Builder, FINFROCK develops all of its projects from a blank sheet of paper, and Bill has led that process for many years.
“I have always enjoyed working with our customers, most being real estate developers, to come up with more economical, functional and aesthetically pleasing buildings. I like the story about the sign that can sometimes be found on a mechanic’s wall that says ‘you can have it good, fast or cheap… pick any two!’ – our job at FINFROCK is to give our customers all three and that is a fun challenge.”
