Maggie Duque – OUC

Maggie Duque is Vice President of Customer Service for the Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC—The Reliable One), the 14th largest public power utility in the United States. She is responsible for Meter Operations, Billing, the Customer Care Center, Commercial Customer Relations and Revenue Recovery.

Duque joined the OUC executive management team in July 2015. Previously, she was an Associate Director of Emerging Technologies in the Energy Division of Navigant Consulting, Inc., a global professional services firm. Duque provided operational performance and management consulting services to utilities in North America as well as the U.S. Department of Energy, leading the effort to establish new metrics related to the implementation of Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) and the leveraging of smart grid investments.

Duque also has more than 20 years of experience at Florida Power & Light (FPL) where she held several senior management positions. Her leadership and experience in strategic planning, process improvement, project implementation and delivery, team building, and communication was utilized throughout the organization to improve performance. While at FPL, Duque established the Six Sigma Quality Program in the Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution Business Units. When asked what she loves most about this industry, she said, “These are exciting times for the utility industry. It is growing, evolving, the options are limitless and vital to our future.” She knows the importance of being intuitive and insightful about trends and people. This has helped her when making decisions or taking specific direction. It helps her see the situation more clearly and accurately.

Duque earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Florida. She received an International Master of Business Administration degree from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management. She also holds a Strategic Planning Certificate from Wharton, the University of Pennsylvania’s executive management program.
