When Michael Wright joined T&G Constructors in 1996 as its CFO, the successful residential builder was in the midst of a renovation of its own. “We were shifting the primary business focus to commercial construction,” Wright said. “But like so many things in life, doing so was easier said than done.” Twenty years later that shift paid off for both Wright and T&G. With offices in Orlando, Miami, Dallas and Houston, the company has completed nearly a billion dollars of commercial construction projects and established a reputation for being one of the finest commercial contractors in the south.

Prior to starting his career in construction, Wright earned an MBA at the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College. “I attended Crummer because starting a new business was always a goal of mine,” Wright said. “The best part of launching a new business is the creative process — the opportunity to build something from nothing.”

Wright was fortunate to have business partners who shared his entrepreneurial spirit. Over the years they started several new companies, including RedTeam Software, for which Wright now serves as CEO. Since its inception in 2006, RedTeam has emerged as a leading contender in the nascent market for cloud-based construction software. “Commercial construction is heating up across the country and it’s exciting to see RedTeam building market share and growing with the industry,” Wright said.

Wright credits his Crummer education for the skills he uses to develop opportunities and manage diverse business interests. “I could never have predicted the twists and turns my career has taken since graduation,” he said. “It may sound nostalgic, but the appreciation I have for my experience at Crummer keeps growing over time.”
