Shea Glenny ends all her emails with “Smiles!” Once you’ve talked with her, you’ll understand why. A bundle of warm energy and bright optimism, Glenny’s vision for her current project is highly contagious. You’ll want to work with this inspiring leader almost instantly because her motivating drive will be to find your sweet spot within local and national opportunities. She thrives on helping people discover and unleash their latent talents through startup and early-growth stage companies.
You might sum up Glenny in a word: activator. In the past year, she launched local initiatives such as 1 Million Cups Orlando, the BIG Exchange for Global Entrepreneurship Week and weVENTURE Orlando. Before joining the Florida Institute of Technology team as the Orlando Director, Glenny worked with analog companies to help them digitize processes, designed digital innovation initiatives and built digital marketing departments for agencies, non-profits and brands.
As she shapes her legacy within the network of weVENTURE centers, Glenny hopes to achieve three core objectives while in her role as director: lay the foundation for a woman-managed seed fund for woman-owned startups; inform the new conversation around how women work at the local and national level; and bring digitization to the center’s operations and client experience. On a personal level, Glenny is especially interested in elevating women as economic drivers and developing millennial leaders to advocate for one another.
“The potential of the female spirit seems limitless to me. I imagine that if we spend the next few millennia nurturing this potential, instead of inhibiting it, we could expand ourselves to new heights of joy and depths of love that before only existed in our ideals,” she said. “As the director of weVENTURE Orlando, my vision is to build an interconnected force of female talent that drives local economic development and who sponsor one another to greatness.”
