Whether you deck the halls or light a Menorah, it is the time of year we all like to gather with family and friends to remember our blessings and rekindle the joy that comes from giving.
Someone once said, “If you want to send a message, wrap it in a person.” For many of us, that is what this season commemorates. But all of us celebrate the incredible message of leadership that has come to us wrapped in the individuals we highlight this month. They not only are examples of character and achievement in their respective professions, they are leaders who have and are moving our region forward and setting the groundwork for a future that is better than today.
We also want to say what an incredible gift all of you are to us. Your creativity, perseverance and service to others inspires and informs us. Every time we can tell one of your unique stories, it underscores the richness and diversity of the region. It is our hope we have been a source of personal and professional encouragement and vision to you in 2017 and look forward to continuing this empowering relationship in 2018.
“I don’t believe in the old adage — ‘it’s not what you know, it’s who you know.’ I believe that it’s not what you know or who you know — it’s how well you know each other that counts.”
– Ivan Misner
“I suppose I would just like to be remembered as a Johnny Appleseed, sowing ideas that can enrich our communities.”
— Jacob Stuart
“I’ve emphasized to our staff to lead from where they are. I believe everyone, from custodians to clerks in the library can influence the school’s environment in a positive way and in turn, their lives are impacted positively.”
— Ann McGee
“I definitely had to overcome hurdles along the way. That’s what entrepreneurship is all about; you learn from your mistakes and keep moving forward; and never give up.”
— John Arie Sr.
